Landscape of Friendship
by Penny Wilkes

Siamese twin of my heart and mind
Beyond blood and expectation
My mirror refracting shadows and bright
The sky of your eyes turns
to prism
Where storm clouds rarely gather
Our energies collate
Like a book of natural wonder
With falcon's gaze
You've dared cliffs
I've never even dreamed
A mind tender
as
A dove's sequined eye
You'd catch me if I tripped
Never clutch tethers
so
I'd miss the nurture of flight
or
An Eagle's breath
I've wandered your pastures
Discovered your fragrance of lupine
Others' boots have missed by
Crushing
I've forded alpine streams
Slippery with stones
of your determination
Your impatience
Shrieks
A desperation for
LIFE
Not waiting for
Tomorrow's weather
