Edward Abbey
Edward Abbey, born January 29, 1927, would not have considered himself a nature writer. Others have compared him to Thoreau and Muir. He called himself a ranger, one who loves the freedom of the open range of the desert lands. His nonfiction and fiction works not only describe the character of wilderness and its creatures, they also explore the philosophical terrain that surrrounds human interaction with wilderness.
"We are obliged, therefore, to spread the news, painful and bitter though it may be for some to hear, that all living things on earth are kindred." Edward Abbey
