Florida Cypress Poems

Cypress Sunrise

                                    Thick strands of mist

                                    lace the cypress swamps

as the day begins to brighten

                                    and a Sandhill Crane honks

                                    at the rising sun almost

                                    obscured by density of woods.

                                         Cypress Sundown

                                    Rust colors grow deeper

                                    as the sun angles down

                                    accentuating Spanish Moss

dangling all the way to the

                                    ground where pools of still

                                    water lie covered with

lilly pads lending a strange hue

                                    that glows between the tree

                                    trunks where bull frogs begin

                                    to trump under evening stars.
